Unlike fixed speed screw air compressors, a variable-speed drive (VSD) rotary screw air compressor regulates the voltage and frequency going to the motor.

In other words, Variable Speed Drive Rotary Screw Air Compressor is a compressor in which capacity can varies according to the air demand, so these types of screw air compressors have ability to save energy which would have gone waste in case of fixed speed screw air compressor.

Value-added benefit of variable-speed drive technology is to reduce power cost. Typical applications of VSD screw air compressors are plants which have varying air demand.

Basic working principle of variable speed compressors is to convert incoming AC power to DC power and back again as per requirement using an inverter circuit so that it has capability to control the voltage to speed up and slow down the motor and provide the right amount of power and exact right amount of pressurized air to fulfill industry requirements.

SCR’s VSD Screw Air Compressor has large rotor diameters which provide high efficiency even at low rotational speeds. Large rotors and low speed running also ensure low noise and low vibration air-end that produces exceptional flow rates.

The unique motor design provides a maximum torque throughout the wide speed range. Protection of motor insulation from any damage is ensured by reducing heat (which is build-up in the rotor) with the help of specially designed cooling fans. A separate force ventilated cooling fan ensures the main motor stays cool even at prolonged periods of low speed running.

German KTR coupling and high-quality air filter system are implemented in SCR variable speed drive air compressors. Our VSD screw air compressors adopts vector control technology which minimize the motor temperature and provide sufficient torque for low speed operation. SCR variable speed screw air compressors have capability to generate compressed air with capacity of 3.5 ~ 52.5 m3/min and pressure of 7 ~ 12.5 bar by using 30HP-375HP power.
